The Mayor, a departmental Councillor, elected officials, family descendants and a delegation from Poilcourt-Sydney were also present at the
event to name the square where she was born after her.
Augustine was also the founder of Kambala, one of the city’s most well-known schools and was very active in the French- Australian Assistance League during WW1. Twice president of the Alliance, Augustine was remembered for her courage, vision and selflessness in raising funds to assist soldiers, their widows and orphaned families.
