Dear members and supporters,
As 2024 ends, I want to take a moment to reflect on my first year as President of the Alliance Française de
Sydney. On behalf of the board of directors, thank you for your ongoing support throughout the year.
The Alliance Française de Sydney continues to grow, thanks to the strong foundations laid by my predecessors. I’d like to acknowledge Lyn Tuit, President from 2018 to 2023, whose leadership has had a lasting impact. I also extend my gratitude to our board for their expertise and support, which have been essential to our success.
A special thanks to Hannah Cooper, Vice President, and Patrick Cocquerel, Treasurer, for their dedication and hard work in 2024. Our language school remains a premium, high-quality offering, with courses across all levels. The commitment of our management team and teaching staff ensures we continue to be a leading centre for French language education and francophone cultures in Sydney.
This year, the Alliance Française organised numerous events, enriching our cultural offerings and deepening the connection between our community and French culture. A highlight was the 35th Alliance Française French Film Festival, which brought the best of French cinema to Australian audiences.
As we look ahead to 2025, we’re excited to celebrate our 130th anniversary, a milestone in the history of the Alliance Française de Sydney. We remain committed to strengthening our programs and deepening our community connections.
Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to seeing many of you at our events and courses in 2025.
Wishing you and your families a positive start to the new year.
François Romanet
President
